justice or revenge

Image
President Donald Trump told reporters Friday that the indictment against former FBI Director James Comey is about pursuing long-standing corruption. "It's about justice really, it's not revenge," Trump said. "It's also about the fact that you can't let this go on. They are sick, radical left people, and they can't get away with it and Comey was one of the people." He wasn't the biggest, but he's a dirty cop," Trump added. "He's always been a dirty cop. Everybody knew it." HON BRIAN SCAVO

NY Dem Party boss deicides to stand against Zohran Mamdani

Image
New York Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs on Friday cast his controversial decision to oppose lefty mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani as a stand for the party’s dispossessed moderates. The powerful state party leader — who bucked Gov. Kathy Hochul after she endorsed the socialist frontrunner — told The Post he wanted to send the message that firebrand progressives such as Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez don’t speak for all Democrats. “We’re a big tent party. We’re not the Republican Party,” he said in an interview. “The party is not just a progressive party. We’re a progressive, moderate party.” STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE LATEST NEWS BY SUBSCRIBING TO MORNING REPORT NEWSLETTER Jacobs’ shocking statement Thursday refusing to back the Queens assemblyman’s mayoral candidacy in New York City sent shockwaves across the Dems, widening the rift between moderate and left-wing members of the party. cuts interest rates: What’s next for credit cards, auto loans, mortgages

Image
After a year of sitting on the sidelines, the Federal Reserve finally cut short-term interest rates by a quarter-point. It's perhaps the most boring financial news out there, given that many market watchers expected just what the Fed delivered. And now the natural question is: What's next? One rate cut won't solve anyone's financial woes. The expectation, though, is that economic conditions could give the Federal Reserve more room to cut rates possibly two more times from here this year. Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning. On Sept.17, the Fed cut short-term rates to a target range of at 4% to 4.25%. We learned that the Fed board's decision wasn't unanimous. "Uncertainty about the economic outlook remains elevated," according to the Fed's statement, and also noted that "downside risks to employment have risen." Trump's Fed battle creates odd cloud over meeting If the rate cut is rather d...

BRIAN SCAVO DEMANDS THAT NYS AG JAMES BE PROSECUTED

Image
a Trump ally referred James for federal criminal prosecution for alleged mortgage fraud related to a Virginia home and a New York property. The same month, William Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, wrote a letter obtained by CBS News New York to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi alleging that James had "in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government backed assistance and loans and more favorable loan terms." NYS ATTOURNEY GENRAL JAMES URED TO RESIGN AMID CRIMINAL MORGTGAGE FRUAD PROBE ( NYS ATTOURNEY GENRAL SHOULD BE INDITED)

Image
Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia are concerned that the acting U.S. attorney could be removed for failing to prosecute New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud, multiple sources say. President Trump did not push back on those concerns, saying Friday, "Yeah, I want him out." The U.S. attorney for the district, Eric Siebert, has been serving as the acting top prosecutor since January and was nominated in May by President Trump for the post. But Siebert has not yet been confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Just last week, the Senate moved to add a vote on Siebert to its calendar. An all-staff meeting was held Friday, but no terminations were announced, according to sources. The Justice Department hasn't responded to a request for comment. A defense attorney for James declined to comment. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, the president said he wants Siebert "out," citing the support he got from Democrat...

the art of the deal trump moves forward

Image
President Donald Trump said Friday he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at a regional summit in South Korea at the end of October and plans to visit China early next year. In a post on Truth Social, Trump added that Xi would come to the United States “at an appropriate time” and said the two leaders had also signed off on a TikTok deal. Beijing also described the call as “positive” and “constructive,” though Xi stopped short of confirming a deal on the future of TikTok. According to China’s official Xinhua News Agency, Xi reiterated Beijing’s stance on the app and urged the United States to avoid unilateral trade restrictions. Later Friday, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that American investors are lined up and that Xi has been “a gentleman” about it. However, he was vague on the question of whether China would continue to control the algorithm for the social video platform. “It’s all being worked out,” Trump said. “We’re going to have very good control.” Wh...

ONCE AGAIN COMMUNIST CHINA'S HYPE MACHINE AT WORK

Image
China’s recent and massive military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II highlighted concerns around that nation’s “unprecedented military buildup.” And yes, China is indeed building up its military equipment at a faster pace than the U.S. But there’s a twist.China may have a lot of hardware, but the U.S. military enjoys three key asymmetric advantages over China that bode well for our chances in any conflict — the joint-mindedness of our forces, the unity of our command and our empowered non-commissioned officer corps. Joint warfighting is hard. The U.S. learned hard lessons during Vietnam and subsequent operations, such the Iranian hostage rescue attempt, on how interservice rivalry can lead to defeat. The Goldwater-Nichols Act of 1986 was designed to create a truly joint fighting force. The U.S. Armed Forces are now obsessively joint-minded. The U.S. has a functioning joint staff, led by the chairman and Joint Chiefs of Staff. The principal U.S. ...

US pulled off surprise strikes on Iran

Image
Details from the longest large-scale B-2 bombing mission in history are only now coming into focus, as Fox News Digital gained rare access to Whiteman Air Force Base and the commanders who led Operation Midnight Hammer, striking Iran. In interviews on base, Col. Josh Wiitala and his crews described how 4,000 personnel worked in secrecy to send seven stealth bombers on a 30-hour mission into Iranian airspace — the first time America’s 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator was used in combat. They called the raid a flawless performance and offered vivid accounts of the strain, training and coordination required to pull it off. We have a low observable culture — everybody’s working in secrecy to carry out the mission," Wiitala told Fox News Digital, speaking publicly for the first time since the June strikes. "It was the entire team working together leveraging the lessons from years of exercises." While thousands supported the mission through maintenance, munitions...

US and British warships sailing through Taiwan Strait , COMMUNIST CHINA IS RUNNING SCARED

Image
"On September 12, the US destroyer Higgins and the UK frigate Richmond transited the Taiwan Strait and engaged in disturbance and provocation," Senior Colonel Shi Yi, a spokesman for the Chinese military's Eastern Theater Command, said in a statement Friday. The Chinese military "organised naval and air forces to track and monitor their transit throughout the process," he said, adding that "the actions... undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait." Beijing views Taiwan as part of its territory and claims jurisdiction over the body of water that separates the self-ruled island from the Chinese mainland. The US, Britain, and other countries view the Taiwan Strait as international waters open to all vessels. China announced on Friday that its latest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, had passed through the strait to conduct tests in preparation for future service. Last week, Australian and Canadian warships also sailed through the waterway, dr...

JAPAN 'S RAIL GUN VS COMMUNIST CHINA

Image
Japan reached a new defense milestone in the summer of 2025 after successfully test-firing a high-power electromagnetic railgun at a moving naval target. According to the Acquisition Technology & Logistics Agency's (ATLA) Instagram page, where it released images from the test, "It's the first time that a ship-mounted railgun was successfully fired at a real ship," bringing it a step closer to becoming the first nation to deploy next-gen railgun systems. ATLA first tested the weapon in 2023, following years of research and engineering validation that began in 2016. The prototype that was tested between June and July 2025 is installed on the JS Asuka vessel. The idea of railguns has been around since World War I, and numerous countries have explored it, including the U.S. Compared to a conventional gun, which relies on fire and gas as the propellant for projectiles, railguns utilize electromagnetic push for accelerating a projectile. Compared to a typical gunpow...

ONCE AGAIN COMMUNIST CHINA PLAYS IT,S DIRTY GAME

Image
In just a few weeks, U.S. farmers will begin harvesting tens of millions of tons of soybeans. But they have a big problem on their hands: The world’s biggest buyer doesn’t want any. Over the years, China had become one of the biggest buyers of American agricultural products, as the country’s growing middle class developed a taste for pork and poultry that are fattened, in part, on soybean meal. U.S. farmers in turn rushed to cash in on China’s ravenous demand But now, soy has emerged as a potent weapon that Beijing is wielding in its trade fight with Washington. Chinese buyers haven’t booked any U.S. soybean purchases, turning instead to Brazilian suppliers. Around this time last year, American soy farmers had already booked large purchases from Chinese buyers, said Jim Sutter, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Soybean Export Council. Chinese negotiators have suggested that China would buy more U.S. soybeans as part of talks aimed at ending a trade war that erupted earlier this ...

COMMUNIST China's newest aircraft carrier SHOWS CHINAS WEAKNESS, ALL A FALSE SHOW OF STRENGH

Image
China's third and latest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, sailed through the Taiwan Strait and into the South China Sea to conduct exercises, the Chinese navy said on Friday. The vessel was first unveiled in 2022, but began the sea trials last year. Currently, China has two carriers in operation — the Liaoning and the Shandong — while the Fujian is undergoing sea trials and is yet to join the service formally. "Our country's third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, recently transited the Taiwan Strait en route to relevant waters in the South China Sea to conduct scientific research trials and training missions," China's navy said. "This cross-regional trial and training exercise for the Fujian is a routine arrangement in the carrier's construction process and is not directed at any specific target," it added. China claims the Taiwan Strait as its own territory; however, Taiwan's government rejects Beijing's sovereignty. Taiwan's Defense...

US ally shows off new drone fleet COMMUNIST CHINA IS RUNNING SACRED

Image
Australia—a key United States ally in the South Pacific—is expanding its drone fleet for undersea and aerial warfare after China unveiled its unmanned weapon systems. Newsweek has contacted the Chinese Foreign Ministry for comment. Why It Matters Facing China's expanding military presence in the South Pacific, including port calls and long voyages by its fast-growing navy, Australia—with U.S. support—is bolstering its defense posture by acquiring nuclear-powered submarines and stealth fighter aircraft while serving as a logistics hub for U.S. naval operations across the Pacific. Last week, China held a military parade to mark the end of World War II, showcasing newly developed advanced weapon systems. Alongside high-profile nuclear long-range missiles, unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles were unveiled on the streets of Beijing. What To Know The Australian government announced on Wednesday that it will acquire a fleet of extra-large autonomous undersea vehicles, known as th...

COMMUNIST CHINA RUNNING SACRED PARANOID ACTIONS OVER OIL IN SOUTH CHINA SEA

Image
Chinese oil rigs in waters claimed by Taiwan have stirred controversy in recent days, drawing a sharp protest from Taipei, with some analysts saying the structures are part of a strategy to normalize encroachment. Why It Matters First reported by The Guardian, the structures are situated in Taiwan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, an EEZ extends 200 nautical miles (230 miles) from a coast, within which claiming governments are entitled to exclusive access to resources. China claims sovereignty over nearly the entire South China Sea, despite a 2016 international tribunal ruling largely dismissing its case. Those claims overlap with those of several other governments in the region. Beijing also claims Taiwan itself and has not ruled out the use of force to bring the self-governing island under its control. Newsweek reached out to the Chinese and Taiwanese foreign ministries via email for comment. What To Know In a ...

Trump's Order Reduces Auto Tariffs On Japan After $550 Billion Deal

Image
Executive Order Formalizes July Trade Agreement The revised tariff rates on Japanese goods will take effect within seven days of publication, according to a statement from Akazawa’s press conference, as reported by Reuters. The announcement resolves uncertainty over implementation timing for the landmark trade deal struck between Washington and Tokyo in July. Under the agreement, the U.S. will reduce tariffs to 15% on Japanese goods, including autos, down from the current 27.5% rate. This significant reduction comes in exchange for Japan’s $550 billion package of U.S.-bound investments and loans. Market Impact on Japanese Automakers Japanese automaker stocks previously surged following the July trade deal announcement. Toyota Motor Corp. TM, Honda Motor Co. Ltd. HMC and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. NSANY stand to benefit significantly from the reduced import duties. The tariff reduction addresses concerns from major Japanese manufacturers who have faced higher costs when exporting to the...

Cuomo wins in head-to-head with Mamdani: Poll

Image
Cuomo wins in head-to-head with Mamdani: Poll The poll also tested a head-to-head matchup between Mamdani and Cuomo and in that scenario, Cuomo wins 52% to 41%. For that to happen, however, Sliwa, Adams and Walden would need to drop out, something each has so far rejected. Still, the results highlight the shifting dynamics in a race that has so far favored Mamdani, a progressive who has gained national attention and grassroots momentum. Cuomo, ousted from office in 2021 amid sexual harassment allegations he denies, has leaned heavily into portraying Mamdani as too far left for New York. Hon. Brian Scavo

Trump threatens new trade war with EU

Image
President Donald Trump has begun a new trade war with the European Union following claims that American tech companies were being taxed unfairly. The president took to Truth Social to rant about a multi-billion dollar fine that hit Google from the EU, "effectively taking money that would otherwise go to American Investments and Jobs." Trump wrote, "This is on top of the many other Fines and Taxes that have been issued against Google and other American Tech Companies, in particular." "Very unfair, and the American Taxpayer will not stand for it! As I have said before, my Administration will NOT allow these discriminatory actions to stand." The president also claimed that Apple was forced to pay a $17 billion fine "that, in my opinion, should not have been charged - they should get their money back!" "They should get their money back!" Trump said."We cannot let this happen to brilliant and unprecedented American Ingenuity and, if...

Giant space object hurtling toward Earth

Image
There is a giant mass heading toward Earth, and according to Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb it could be an extraterrestrial craft, which is exciting to some and shocking to others. Loeb's peers believe the unidentified object, which has been named 3I/ATLAS, is a frozen comet that's been releasing carbon dioxide gas. Loeb has written a paper explaining his theory, that there is an unseen "precursor mini-probe" traveling ahead of 3I/ATLAS and as it approaches Mars, it will get close enough for photos to be taken by a Mars-orbiting camera called HiRISE. grophysicist believes the mini-probe is sent ahead to explore or investigate, prior to 3I/ATLAS's arrival. Loeb shared his thoughts in a blog post, explaining a precursor mini-probe, approximately 300 feet, would not be detected by Earth-bound telescopes due to their limited ability to capture reflected sunlight. But, a space telescope is a different story, with the Hubble Space Telescope taking a 3I/ATLAS on...

GOLD HITS RECORD HIGH

Image
old has shattered previous price records in a dazzling rally, propelled by a mix of economic and political anxieties that have convinced a growing number of investors and governments to place faith in its time-tested "safe haven" status. The price of gold topped $3,500 per troy ounce for the first time in history on Tuesday, the latest milestone in an especially strong 2025 that has seen the metal gain some 35 percent while outpacing both stock indexes and major cryptocurrencies. What Does the Price of Gold Say About the U.S. Economy? Gold has historically been considered a refuge during times of economic volatility, with investors flocking to the metal during stretches of inflation, fiat currency risks and political crises. Speaking to Newsweek, experts cited several reasons behind gold's recent rise, but "uncertainty" and "caution" were the prevailing themes when it came to the U.S. economy. "A cocktail of factors has fueled gold's r...
