TOXIC AIR EXPOSURE ON AIRPLANES
What’s happening:
Some airplanes may have leaked toxic fumes from the engines into the air people were breathing during flights. Meaning passengers and flight crews could have breathed in chemicals that can make people sick.
Why it matters:
These “fume events” can cause health problems that often look like normal jet lag but isn’t.
Reported symptoms include:
Thinking & memory problems: confusion, trouble concentrating, mood or personality changes
Movement & muscle problems: weakness, loss of balance, numbness, spasms, or even paralysis
Awareness issues: drowsiness, fainting, blackouts, or unresponsiveness
Pain: headaches, body aches, or nerve pain
Breathing problems: coughing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath
Stomach problems: nausea, cramping, bloating, or diarrhea
Skin problems: rashes, irritation, or unusual skin changes
Who may qualify:
Passengers or flight crew who experienced these symptoms during or after flying.
What we’re doing:
Morgan & Morgan is investigating reports to determine whether airlines and aircraft manufacturers failed to protect travelers from toxic air exposure.
